I don't know what the 3x claim was about, but "make check" is definitely
slower in 2.52 than in 2.13.  If you say 60x slower, I'll believe you.
The testing method has changed, and there are more tests.

This doesn't mean "autoconf" is slower, or that "configure" is slower;
only that "make check" is slower.  But my impression is also that
autoheader and autoconf are slower in 2.5x.  I haven't measured it though.
