I'm reporting the warnings as instructed; configure was created using
autoconf HEAD from today, running it on IRIX 6.2 with tcsh login shell
gives:

% ./configure

checking for a BSD-compatible install... ./install-sh -c
checking build system type... mips-sgi-irix6.2
...

(and it takes several minutes to get that far)

The chosen shell was /bin/ksh it seems.
