Can autoconf be used to detect system info? |

I am using REDHAT linux fedaro. It is said that Autoconf package can be
used to determine features provided by system: Are System V message queues
supported? is the uint8_t datatype defined? is the gethostname function
provided? and so on.Can Autoconf generate a 'config.h' file for all
these? If can ,can anyone tell the routine.
