Thank you, Ralf!  All you need is multiple CPPFLAGS entries and you stumble.
In a horrible, semi-indecipherable way.  I think since I'm configuring a "defs"
script anyway, it might make more sense to move all that "TESTS_ENVIRONMENT"
stuff into that file.

Sergei - I'll bump out a temporary release tonight.  I'm leaving for a few days
tomorrow, so I likely won't get to a full release until around 11/20 or so.
