Oh, absolutely not!  And I didn't intend to claim that; sorry if I gave
the impression of placing all the blame on you.

I stand by that decision BTW; it was necessary to minimize backward
incompatibility, and give the users a decent transition period.

Yes, all of the present mess is the result of an unexpected backport.
We should try to be more careful with those in the future.  Still, I
believe that moving branch-1.11 to maint is a sane and good move.  I
will proceed to do so after I've finished the 1.11.3 release process,
unless you (or Jim) strongly objects.
