Even if this happens, they could simply rebase the work on a new branch off
of the v1.10.3 tag, no? As I've noted in my message, the only difference
between the commit that tags point to and the tip of branch-1-10 is that the
latter has been updated to have a version of '1.10.3a' instead of '1.10.3'.
