I recall that there were several problems with using -O3 back in the
January, February time frame of this year.

Is it a safe assumption that the -O3 option is now safe to use? 

Is it a safe assumption that all known bugs associated with -O3 have
been dealt with?  Obviously, there maybe unknown ones, but, I'm
referring to any known ones.
