This isn't a bug. The following line restores the interrupt flag. > out __SREG__,__tmp_reg__ The interrupts are disabled only for the two cycles needed to update the stack pointer. If you took an interrupt with the stack pointer half updated bad things happen! I know. I had that bug in my RTOS for a while :)
