Actually, the sh.exe that is shipped with WinAVR is bash.
If you type: sh --version, you should get:
GNU bash, version 2.04.0(1)-release (i686-pc-msys)

The point is not to blame someone. The point would be to get your
problem fixed ASAP, which as I understand it, the Linux community is
very good about doing that.
I do, however, like to blame Mr. Gates for allowing a bad OS design
to perpetuate. :-)
