What is the real problem here?
- the DWARF/2 specs?
- The gcc DWARF output?

It is a problem with avr-gcc's output of DWARF debug information. See the bug report I referred to:


I also want to point out that time is running out for those 3 DWARF2 bugs for the AVR for GCC 4.0. I just saw an announcement on the GCC list where Mark Mitchell (the Release Manager) wrote: "In terms of schedule, I plan to create the first prerelease this weekend, in preparation for a final release on or about the 15th, as planned. After I make the prerelase, the branch will be slushy, and all non-documentation commits will require my approval."

So if any fixes don't make it into the 4.0 FSF tree, the toolchain distributors will need the patches.
