I've had a nice experience with uCon, its a nice replacement for
HyperTerminal. It provides basic services typically used during embedded
system development... TFTP client/server, DHCP server, serial command
scripting, and even a terminal server that allows you to access the PC's
serial port remotely via telnet. Unfortunately, like HyperTerminal, it
only runs on Windows.

Check it out here: http://www.umonfw.com/ucon/index.html

Almost anything, including 20 years old Procomm for DOS, makes a good alternative to HyperTerminal IMHO. I know of a number of good terminal programs for Windows (I use Tera Term Pro mostly, but uCon also looks nice). What I am interested in here is alternatives to minicom for Linux.

mvh.,
