Ralf,

That is correct. Axiom is now built (by default)
using GCL 2.6.1. GCL versions 2.4.1 and 2.5 are
out of date. It is still possible (by a small
modification) to build with the previous version
of GCL which was 2.5.2.

When you say "not the Makefile.dvi" do you mean that
this documentation file is not up to date with these
changes? If so, then that should not affect the build
of Axiom and will be corrected as part of the build
process.
