To be honest, when I compiled axiom--main--1 I also realized that "pressing enter" did not help. I had to press "q".

But strangely now a lot of "ENTER" helped.

Tim still hasn't said why he needs the "final" in src/doc/endpaper.pamphlet

\usepackage[dvips,final,colorlinks=true,pdfstartview=FitH]{hyperref}


otherwise it could simply be removed. (It works without "final" at my place.)

Comment: Since that file uses pstricks you cannot produce a pdf file from it.

I am trying to confirm this.  What I see is slightly different.  The
compilation is simply stalled at this step (no way to press enter):

This is makeindex, version 2.14 [02-Oct-2002] (kpathsea + Thai support).

Generating output file bookvol1.ind.....done (875 lines written, 0 warnings).
Output written in bookvol1.ind.
Transcript written in bookvol1.ilg.

This is weird as Camm package successfully backports to sarge...
