I think it is a tricky question. I would not want to rush ahead with it.

As far as I can tell, you have agreed that there are problems with
"exp.sum", "exp/sum", and "sum:exp".

No. Only the last one. You claimed there were some tokenization problems with the first two, but I didn't see it.

You keep suggesting Unicode but you
won't make a specific proposal other than something related to "- >", which
is not what we're talking about.

One would throw them in at need, when sitting down, trying to compiled the grammar.
