Please, go ahead, I have no problems at all with simplifications!  And  
if we can use year intervals, even better.

Just for the records, Emacs features copyright-update that you can add  
to you write-file-hooks so that you never have to remember about  
that.  That's how Paul and I, at least, had the job done painlessly.
