Well well well… I learned something new just now in experimenting….

I ran Debian in VBox and fired up each of the 3 Terminal apps they offer.
I every case typing 
aTABTAB 
gave a list of commands beginning with a. 
Ditto for bTABTAB- a list of commands beginning with b

Then I fired up OpenBSD in VBox .. same behaviour in the console.

Finally in Mac fired up Terminal and voila same behaviour!!!!!

So I guess it’s a feature of the shell….

Which begs the question of what it ought to do in APL interactive mode….
Map it to )Commands? 

I’ll leave that for wiser folks to discuss.
