Well, that's more or less the point: it makes it easy to check which
effect the respective settings have.

Anyway, we should really unify this between AUCTeX and preview-latex.
Ideally, I guess that we should use a CCL program (yes, this will not
enthuse non-MULE XEmacs users) to sift out the error information right
while the process output is appearing (and use text properties for
highlighting them and putting the information there), and then use the
fast error hook stuff once the process is finished or when the user
requests an error search.

Doing the stuff right away has the advantage of using up processing
time at a point of time where it will cause enough of a delay for
letting pipes run full.  And that makes this kind of operation quite
more efficient.

It also means that we can highlight errors as they come, or have a
condensed buffer (or narrowing) containing only the errors.
