I am so sorry!

There never was a problem in Bash.

It turned out that the problem is that I'm a guy with a hand coordination
problem and an international keyboard!

For those of you who want to enjoy my total embarrasment:

In order to type the pipe-symbol I have to hold my "Alt Gr"-key. And because
my hands are not that well coordinated, I sometimes do not release the "Alt
Gr"-key before typing the space following the pipe symbol! And the space
then is somehow discarded which in turn gives the error...

I'm sorry for wasting your time!
