bash static on hp-ux 11.11 (11i.v1)

I am trying to compile bash in static mode for root replacement of /sbin/sh

On HP-UX.

 

The same code compiles perfectly on Linux and Solaris 2.8.

However I get the following error during compile time.

 

 

./mkbuiltins -D . printf.def

cc -c  -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DSHELL  -I. -I..  -I.. -I../include -I../lib -I. -DHPUX   -g printf.c || ( rm -f printf.c ; exit 1 )

cc: "printf.def", line 824: error 1718: Types are not assignment-compatible.

gmake: *** [builtins/libbuiltins.a] Error 1

 

 

configure options.

 

./configure –-enable-static-link -–prefix=/usr/local/

 

Please advise of fix?
