I did everything I could to get all locale information out of my
environment. So, despite that, it is presuming "en_US"???
That strikes me as totally wrong-headed, beit the fault of POSIX
or BASH, I don't know. I hate having to become a locale expert
in order to use the shell in simple and obvious ways.....Anyway,
thanks for the info. I guess I need to scrub everything, then
add back "LC_COLLATE=C". Stupid, if you ask me. But you didn't. :)
