I don't know what version you're using; I have 0.11.

$ ./posh
\[\]${HOST}($SHLVL)\$ exit 1
./posh: exit: bad number

$ ./posh
\[\]${HOST}($SHLVL)\$ exit 10
./posh: exit: bad number
$ echo $?
1
