Are the VC6-built libraries dlls/import libs? What is the error messsage?
We've witnessed a similar crash when the user tries to build

Are there static objects in your .lib files as well as import stubs?

As you probably found out, the older bonaries are still available at any of
the Soureforge mirrors, eg:
