The current link times are about the same as with the newest software, so I would have to say something has changed on my linux box. I have no idea if it has any relevance, but I was surprised by the large number of small writes (512 bytes, 1024 bytes) listed in the log of strace. I would think this would be expensive. Have I screwed up a buffer size parameter somewhere? I guess at worst, I can go back to my 8 year old SGI where the link time is 2 secs. :) Emden |
