libtool seems to add -lc to creating shared libraries.
change:

# Whether or not to add -lc for building shared libraries.
build_libtool_need_lc=yes

to:

# Whether or not to add -lc for building shared libraries.
build_libtool_need_lc=no

and see if this makes any difference.
