Analysis of the problem:
For some AVR devices, the compiler driver passes its own -Tdata option
down to the linker in order to override the default location of the
start of SRAM. Now, when a user also specifies their -Tdata, the
linker will see two such options. Obviously, the order in which they
are evaluated has been changed between binutils 2.15 and binutils
2.16. Previously, the last -Tdata option specified `won', now the
first one is honoured.
While it would be useful for the AVR target to revert to the previous
option evaluation order, I think this is not really binutil's fault.
