It is default visibility in both libraries, but because libxul do not link with any library that would (mistakely) export it, it gets optimized out there. Please also look at http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=13245 Your current implementation agrees with Gold on IRONLY_EXP and dynamic linking, but I would really love this to be changed.
