A testcase in C:

address@hidden tmp]$ echo > b.c
address@hidden tmp]$ gcc -g -c -O2 b.c 
address@hidden tmp]$ objcopy --compress-debug-sections b.o
BFD: b.o: unable to initialize commpress status for section .debug_line
objcopy:b.o: Invalid operation
address@hidden tmp]$
