Hi Nick,

I can reproduce on Ubuntu 16.04 x86_64 with most recent sources from Binutils
trunk.

address@hidden:/binutils-gdb/obj-norm# printf
".irp\n000000000;#000\"0000000000000000000000\n" > test
address@hidden:/binutils-gdb/obj-norm# gas/as-new test
