The object file generated from the related source file with

$ cd ~/src/test-binutils/build
$ i686-w64-mingw32-gcc -c -o test.o ~/src/test-binutils/test.c -g

shows a filename located in the working directory from which the compiler has
bee run

$ objdump -WL test.o | grep test.c

test.c:
/home/<user>/src/test-binutils/build/test.c:
test.c                                         4                0x3c           
   x
test.c                                         4                0x45           
   x
test.c                                         5                0x4a           
   x
test.c                                         6                0x56           
   x
test.c                                         7                0x5b
