Hi Nick, thank you for your reply. I rebuilt glibc with binutils 2.39 and the
exact same error occurred, so it must not be a fluke. I have obtained the
reduced assembly and object files, see attached.

New steps to reproduce:

1. as --32 crti.s -o crti.o
2. objcopy --only-keep-debug crti.o crti.o.debug
3. objdump -f crti.o.debug

Expected behavior and actual behavior same as before.
