Yes, I would love to remove the "check-am: all-am: line added by automake.
It's a pain for developers like me who can't resist meddling with the source
while running tests, or who modify the source and don't run "make all" before
"make check". I've been caught by this many times.
Top-level entries like
dependencies = { module=check-binutils; on=all-gas; };
would help for anyone who forgets to run "make all"
