I am also trying to pursue the flex being buggy idea, bug
so far flex 2.5.23->2.5.31 give this:

flex -Pzend
-oZend/zend_language_scanner.c -i
flex: fatal internal error, bad line in skeleton file
make: *** [Zend/zend_language_scanner.c] Error 1
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
