I am tempted to say thank our lucky stars and leave it at that.
I am currently solving a similar problem that is very strange.
It also has to do with threading, and leads to completely
misleading symptoms. 

My priority for now is stability of the server under load.
There will be an alpha of 2.0.4 tomorrow, assumping that
an error I believe I have fixed does not rememerge...
