Confirmed (cvs 2006.70.14).

Yeah, I have looked at this already (because I would need a pnm/ppm 
provider, and I wanted to see how much work this might be. Or could
we just import the freehep pnm stuff?).


BTW: javax/image/package.html still claims imageio to be based on 
ImageMagick, and it took me some time to figure out that gdk-pixbuf 
is used now...






But I use my image viewer mostly for JPEGs, and 
the ImageIO JPEG provider takes 10+ seconds for 500x700
