[Bug awt/40420] New: FontPeer's are missing implementation of getMaxCharBounds |

I am trying to run a VUE (http://vue.tufts.edu) jar using jamvm and gij under
amd64 debian lenny. This includes classpath 0.97.1, and leads to an exception
when attempting to run under either JVM:
java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException
at gnu.java.awt.peer.gtk.GdkFontPeer.getMaxCharBounds(GdkFontPeer.java:476)
Having checked the source, this seems to be unchanged as of 0.97.2 and 0.98, so
I have marked the bug as present in 0.98.
This seems to also be unimplemented in the XFontPeer (not that I know how to
select it at runtime instead of Gtk) and possibly others.
I assume I am reading the situation correctly, and that it is not a case of the
function being implemented at a different level, or that the function is old or
not supposed to be used by applications - I'm not really familiar with java.
If you need any more information, please let me know. I'm not sure if there is
anything else missing to run VUE, but this is the sticking point so far.
