That was probably fixed in coreutils-5.90.
The latest stable release is coreutils-5.97.

Here's the NEWS entry that might be relevant:

  csplit could produce corrupt output, given input lines longer than 8KB

Please let us know if you can reproduce the failure with
the latest version.
