Follow-up Comment #3, bug #1212 (project coreutils): In a later note (that I cannot find in the archive) David T-G pointed out that case insensitivity can be triggered by specifying the proper locale. This is true but does require that a proper locale be installed and selected. After all of this time if this has not been requested more then I don't know how important it is to actually implement. ls has so many options already.
