Help! I need core util docs ! :)
I just tried to visit this page and use the
http://www.gnu.org/manual/manual.html and the "coreutils" link and
it takes me to another page and I tried the "HTML on one page" it
keeps expanding the URL until it looks like:
http://www.gnu.org/software/coreutils/manual/coreutils/html_mono/html_mono/html_mono/html_mono/html_mono/coreutils.html
and keeps going and going....
I tried it in both MSIE and Firefox.
I could not reproduce the problem with the Mozilla 1.7 bundled with
Solaris 10 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS i86pc; en-US; rv:1.7)
Gecko/20060627). It properly resolved the link to:
http://www.gnu.org/software/coreutils/manual/html_mono/coreutils.html
and I was able to read this.
I likewise, with a version of Mozilla either compiled from source or
obtained via Debian (listed in the About page as Mozilla 1.7.12
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050922),
failed to reproduce the problem by simply following links from
http://www.gnu.org/manual/manual.html as described - but, if I go to any
version of the given problematic URL (the simplest form I've checked
being
http://www.gnu.org/software/coreutils/manual/coreutils/html_mono/coreutils.html),
then the link simply recurses as described. I'm not sure that that's
worth fixing, because there is or should be no way to get to a URL of
that form - i.e., with the extra "coreutils/" in it - via links from
elsewhere on the site, but the behaviour does appear to exist
nonetheless.
