Thanks for spotting that!
And for the script pointer.
For reference, the offending info output looks like this:
$ INFOPATH=. info -f coreutils.info join|grep -A1 'or more blanks'
* fields in the input are separated by one or more blanks, with
leading blanks on the line ignored;
