The Info doc and (what's left of) the man page are wrong in making one
think that
$ cpio -t
cannot stand alone on the command line. It appears that it must be run
as -it, as there are only -i,-o,-p modes, when in fact, there can also
be a 4th plain -t mode!
Only cpio --help is OK about this.
