Has this changed? I've doing backups with cpio for 15 years, so it's likely my tar info is out of date.

Cpio header layouts are standard and changing them will mean breaking bbothb ackwar and inter-version compatibility, which I'd like to avoid. If you plan to store bigger files, I'd suggest you to use GNU tar. Its recent version (1.15.1) supports POSIX.1-2001 archive format, which allows for non-limited file sizes. Regards, Sergey
