DDD 3.3.1 (hppa1.1-hp-hpux10.20) gets `Signal 10' signal

On startup of ddd, I received a Signal 10 signal, shortly after creating the 
main window. I had previously tried to compile ddd with gcc 3.0, which failed.

I have successfully compiled and run ddd using HP's aCC compiler, and have
built and run ddd 3.2 with gcc 2.95.*

Our operating environment is:

Hardware: HP C160L
OS:       HPUX 10.20 ACE
Compile:  gcc 3.0.1
Debugger: gdb 5.0

gdb --version
GNU gdb 5.0

We also observerd the problem with HP's port of gdb 5.0:
