Problem builing ddd-3.3.1 on HP-UX 11.00 (fwd)

I'm hoping someone can help me.  I'm trying to build ddd 3.3.1 on
an HP-UX 11.00 system with gcc 3.0.1.  The build moves along for
a while and then I start getting warnings about size_t being
undeclared in namespace 'std' followed by errors about calls of
overloaded operator new ambiguous.  Since I'm not very experienced
with C++, I'd like to avoid hacking the code.  I'm including the
output from the build.
