DDD 3.3.1 (powerpc-apple-darwin5.2) gets `BadValue' error

I came across this bug in ddd. The ~/.ddd/log file is enclosed. The happened when I tried to start ddd (as supplied via fink on sourceforge) from an xterm under Mac OS 10.1.3 with the X server from Tennon (XTools 1.0.2).
