cc1plus error while launching configure

Hello,

I have downloaded ddd to use it as a debugging tool. The following error has
appeared after the launch of the configure script:

checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C++ compiler (gcc  ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler cannot
create executables.
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.
