DDD <--> GDB Interaction hang!

Dear DDD support person,

I am trying to run ddd, but I keep getting the error "waiting until GDB gets
ready...".  A "top" reading says that ddd is using close to 100% of the cpu.
The interaction between DDD and GDB is I guess therefore not working.  I
check out the /dev/pts directory, and the /dev/pts/3 as mentioned below is
created with 620 permissions (rw--w----) and is owned by me (zatara).

I saw a very similar bug report by Klaus Kusche on Sun, 29 Sep 2002.  But I
didn't not see any replies to his report.  Do you know what a possible fix
to this defect might be?
