ddd fails to compile on MacOSX 10.2.8

Downloaded and installed openMotif-2.2.3 without visible problems. 
Downloaded ddd-3.3.8 and configured, again without visible problems. 
Compiling the source with 'make' resulted in:

Am running on Mac dual processor G4 (May 2003) under OSX 10.2.8. 
Installed the Developer CD (GNU 3.1 in /usr/bin) and GNU 3.3.1 in 
/usr/local/bin as the Apple CD does not include Fortran. Installed 
XFree86 4.4.0 and as I did not like the gdb debugger very much tried to 
install ddd, without success so far.

Any suggestions what I do wrong or is it a real bug? Have attached 
config.log. Tried to submit a bug report, but never received the 
necessary password.
