Today, it seems that power is where it's at, even when it comes to basic tools. The greatest advantage to using a power saw is the cleanliness of the cut. A hand saw, no matter how skilled the craftsman is, still leaves the cut wood a bit more ragged than a power saw. And with the rising popularity of all power tools, there is not a significant cost difference between a manual miter saw and a basic power miter saw. Passion parties...sort of like Tupperware parties for the bedroom....have become increasingly popular over the last few years. It's what some women do on girl's night out. It is also a side income for many people. Law-abiding folks engage in this, much the same way as folks bet on office pools. Yet, like betting, it can turn the average citizen into a criminal. The position that is closely related to this position is called the extended tripod grip. It is essentially the same as the basic tripod grip with the exception that the tripod is formed further up on the pencil. This benefits the artist because only a small movement of the fingers can produce greater movement of the pencil tip. One thing to remember with this is to not squeeze it too tightly.
As with photos, scrapbooks are keepers of precious moments that you want to always be able bring back. Scrapbooks just do it in a much more meaningful way than the simple pictures within. The moments that you have captured in pictures are deeply embedded in every page, note, caption, and journal in your scrapbook. Your creativity brings the precious moments in the scrapbook back time and time again. Place the tissue paper over and around the lollipop, wrap the rubberband around the base several times, and then draw your "ghostly" face on the pop with a permanent maker. (Careful though, the marker's ink will spread quickly, just a few dots is usually good enough.) This is an easy, fun, very cheap craft for the holiday, and best of all, the receiver of this gift has a nice snack also! That's what retired schoolteacher, Joanne Webb, found out when she tried to supplement her family's income through passion parties. You see, it's ok to sell that type of stuff if you market them right. You have to say that they're for novelty purposes. If you actually explain what they're really for, you could face up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.....at least in Texas.

I now challenge you to think of at least the ten most important people in your life, and think of a nice craft (made by you) to give to them this year. It may be a traditional one that you have already planned, Great!, and if it includes the recipient helping to make it, Even Better! Try to start a few new traditions also, so that our future generations will have a little "extra" to remember about us. Let's keep crafting alive!
