Re: [Bug-ddrescue] Suggestions to rename "logfile"

"rescuemap" came first to my mind and it is also in Robert's list. If you
change the logfile name, I suggest additional modifications at the same time:

- require a logfile argument or a --nologfile option to run ddrescue;

- add an "expert" option at compile time to have the current behaviour.

Users who would be annoyed to add the --nologfile option because they don't
need to resume are the more likely to compile ddrescue themselves.

Cheers,

Adrien

I think logfile is fine. Wikipedia's definition of logfile includes this:
"a file that records either events that occur in an operating system or
other software runs"
Maybe it doesn't fully explain the value of the ddrescue logfile, but it
doesn't seem wrong either.

I also like the 4th definition of "log" on dictionary.reference.com:
"any of various records, made in rough or finished form, concerning a trip
made by a ship or aircraft and dealing with particulars of navigation,
weather, engine performance, discipline, and other pertinent details;
logbook."

But here are some more suggestions anyway, not all of them facetious:
mapfile
rescuemap
veryimportanttimesaverfile
continuationfile
restartfile
resumefile
interruptionfile
ddrescueFTWfile

:o)
