Must we really go through this again? Reasoning is still the same as
five years ago, when that bug was filed. Looking at the number of
files on Gentoo mirrors:
.gz .tgz 25336

We won't add code to our package manager for unpacking a format that
accounts for less than 0.01 % of all files.
I am convinced that you're doing your users a disservice by not
distributing ed in at least one of the popular formats any more.
